The Houses That Raised Me

After moving 22 times before the 6th grade, I guess you could call me a gypsy.  My father worked construction.  We moved to different areas to follow the available work.  I have lived in a camp trailer in Arizona, a several rental houses and a house trailer.  I never lived in a house that my parents owned.  Later in my childhood, they did purchase a Marlette house trailer and that is where we lived when I graduated from high school.

Moving every 6 months or so made school difficult for a growing child.  My class would start working on a concept and then we would move.  When I got to the new school, they were usually in the middle of a different concept and I would have to catch up.  Another challenging aspect was making friends.  I would just get a good friend......we would move.  It was very hard for a young girl to move on from so many freindships.

....there were more positive than negative experiences.

Although multiple moves had it's disadvantages, there were more positive than negative experiences.  We were allowed as youth to explore the area that we lived in.  There were many day trips with the family of six in an old car driving around looking at the sights of the current town we lived in.  There were weekend trips where Dad would say, "Let's go for a ride!"  We would end up in Idaho and have to stay the night in an old hotel.   Many trips were made to Provo, UT or Salt Lake City, Ut to spend time with grandparents and beloved Aunties.  On the way home from any trip, we might see a side road and travel down it, "Just to see what was there."

....near lakes, the ocean, many rivers, some creeks, and several springs.

We lived in the city.  We lived in a RV park.  We lived in several small towns.  We lived in a trailer park with a pool.  We lived in a trailer park with cool hills that had caves for exploring.  We lived near lakes, the ocean, many rivers, some creeks and several springs.  We lived on a farm where I learned to really play and really work.

While I can't share a photo of the house that raised me, I can show you the people who lived in the houses that raised me.

This photo was taken two days before my sweet Mom passed away.  She is in her jammies, so she will probably be mad at me for posting it.  However, this is how I want to remember her.  My handsome father is what my daughter calls, "A Hot Grandpa".  He was the real adventurer in the family and kept us up to our elbows in things to see and do.

Thanks for traveling down another road of memories and adventures with me.

Blessings,

Sherone ~ Anna Pearl's Granddaughter

Talk to the Paw

Me:  I really want to be able to sleep like a Chihuahua!
Shelbee:  Shhhh, you are disturbing me.
Me:  Will you teach me your secrets?
Shelbee:  Talk to the paw, cause the ears aren't listening.

For Lack of Thought

Many times, on Facebook, people are using a quiz to help others get to know them.  (Spoiler Warning) Today's post will be one of "those" quizzes.....

I am doing this quiz because I honestly can't think up an original thought at this time.  I have made an oath that I would be a better blogger this year.  When I made the oath, I forgot that I have frequent lapse in intelligent thought.  This is one of those moments.  Just know that while I am typing this, my attention deficit is taking me off on another project every two minutes or so.  I just hope I can finsh this in a day.....Here goes!

What is the last thing you watched on TV?

My Five Wives on TLC.....hey..don't judge me....polagamy is a very interesting topic.

When did you last step outside? What were you doing?

7:30 am - I was on my way to town to get some blood work done at the hospital.....don't worry just old lady tests. :)

What is on the walls of the room you are in?

A clock, about 12 sticky notes, a card sent by my daughter and a cheatsheet.

If you became a multi-millionaire overnight, what would you buy?

I would pay off my Dad's house, remodel my Mother in law's house any way she wanted it, buy my siblings and sibling in laws new houses, pay my daughter's student loans, buy both kids a new house, pay off all my debts, buy a vacation home in Florida, and bulid a log cabin on the ranch.  Yep, that should take care of it.

Tell me something about you that most people don’t know.

I wanted to be a journalist when I grew up.  Nope, I'm not a journalist.

Who made the last incoming call on your phone?

My Hunky Hubby, on his way to Colorado for a Mosquito Conference.

If you could change something about your home, without worry about expense or mess, what would you do?

I would re-do the kitchen and the bathroom and add on a bathroom.

What was the last thing you bought?

A Egg, Cheese, and Bacon Biscuit and a Iced Caramel Mocha from McDonalds.

Would you go bungee jumping or sky diving?

Yep, not doing either of these.  Heck, I pee my pants when I jump on a tramp!

If you could eat lunch with one famous person, who would it be?

Tom Hanks!  The man is a brilliant actor.  I just saw him in Captain Phillips.  Oh, My!

Which store would you choose to max out your credit card?

Murdochs or Cal Ranch

Is the glass half empty or half full?

I try really hard to be a positve person.  However, like most humans I fail miserably.  I will say that I am a "wanna be" glas half full person.

What’s the farthest-away place you’ve been?

I'm thinking it would be Roatan, Hondorus....might be Hawaii.

What’s under your bed?

Are you kidding me?  I am not going under there to find out!

What is your favorite time of the day?

Bedtime

What Inspires You?

Watching my children grow into responsible adults and watching them learn how to deal with a difficult world.

For Sale at our Farm Store

This lovely costume brooch is likely from the 1970's. Four small rhinestones surround a larger stone. All the stones are clear, with slight yellowing from age. Each small stone is highlighted with dots of red, white, and blue. The clasp is in excellent condition.

Enjoy this vintage piece for Independence Day or for everyday wear.

Brooch is approximately 1" in circumference

Buffalo Bread

I made this bread for my family last night.  It is a sweet, moist bread mix.  I had to borrow a beer from a neighbor.  It also said you can use 7-up if you don't like the beer taste.  Not my choice of beer, but beggars can't be choosers, can they?
