A Simple Tutorial For Freezing Rhubarb

1.  Cut Rhubarb when the stalks are red.
2.  Trim leaves off of stalks.
3.  Cut the stalks into 1" pieces.

4.  Mix 1 cup sugar with stalks.
5.  Place 2 cups stalks in zip type freezer bags, making sure to press out as much air as possible.

6.  Freeze.

Note:  My recipe for Strawberry Rhubarb Pie calls for 2 cups of rhubarb.  This is the reason why I put 2 cups in the bags.  Substitute to match your recipe.

New Obsession - Outlander on Starz

Where the heck have I been?  How did I miss an entire season of Outlander on Starz!

To try to explain the series to my readers, I have borrowed the description from the first book, called Outlander, by Diana Gabaldon.  I quote, "From Book 1: Claire Randall is leading a double life. She has a husband in one century, and a lover in another... In 1945, Claire Randall, a former combat nurse, is back from the war and reunited with her husband on a second honeymoon—when she innocently touches a boulder in one of the ancient stone circles that dot the British Isles. Suddenly she is a Sassenach—an "outlander"—in a Scotland torn by war and raiding border clans in the year of our Lord...1743. Hurled back in time by forces she cannot understand, Claire's destiny in soon inextricably intertwined with Clan MacKenzie and the forbidden Castle Leoch. She is catapulted without warning into the intrigues of lairds and spies that may threaten her life ...and shatter her heart. For here, James Fraser, a gallant young Scots warrior, shows her a passion so fierce and a love so absolute that Claire becomes a woman torn between fidelity and desire...and between two vastly different men in two irreconcilable lives."

Ohhhh Myyyyy Goooodneesssss!
Since I watched the first episode, I have been hopelessly addicted.  I binge watched the first season in one weekend.  No food, no sleep, just bathroom stops in between episodes.  I was disappointed to see you had to pay for Starz to watch the new episodes.  I swore to myself that I was going to let the obsession go.

The cost for streaming Starz was $8.99 plus tax per month.....I paid it.  I lost that battle.  Here's the link How to join me in Outlander Addiction

The new battle in the war on Outlander Addiction seems to be waiting a whole week in between episodes.  It is complete and total torture!  I would rather be flogged than have to wait to see what adventures Jamie and Claire are going to delight us with.  In my attempts to control the ravages of addiction that has taken over my body and soul, I swore to myself that I would not go buy the books.  There are EIGHT of them, after all!  I cannot afford to buy eight books.

The cost for the books was $77.92 plus tax.....I paid it.  I lost that battle.  Here is the link How to Further Your Outlander Addiction into Dangerous Depths

Reading the books is quenching my thirst for Scottish entertainment......to a certain extent.  I felt the need to find out what is behind the scenes of the actors who play the parts in the series.  I mean, Jamie and Claire are not real, right?  Right?  Anyway.......I decided that scouring the internet to find out every little detail about them would be pushing the addiction envelope to a new extreme.  I am not a person who would post pictures of Jamie Alexander Malcom McKenzie Fraser on Facebook!  I am not a girl who would join Caitriana Balfe Twitter page or bookmark Tobia Menzies IMDB page.

But I did!

In conclusion, I would like to advise those who think they may have similar obsessions.  Following is a list of symptoms of Outlander Addiction/Links:

1.  If your entire week schedule is planned around Saturday night at 9pm EST, you might have a problem with Outlander Addiction.
2.  If you have become a member of The Church of Heugnanology, you might have a problem with Outlander Addiction.
3.  If you are Listening to the Books on You Tube when you can't be actually holding the books, you might have a problem with Outlander Addiction.
4.  If you can't hold the book or listen online because you are driving a motor vehicle, so you buy the Audio Book on CD,  you might have a problem with Outlander Addiction.
5.  If you read this entire post in a Scottish accent (it was written in a Scottish accent), you might have a problem with Outlander Addiction.

I hope that this narrative helps others who might suffer from the same afflictions.  If it doesn't, then here is something that will no doubt make you feel better!  His Heughanship Himself!

Disclaimer:  If Starz gets their nickers in a wad about this post, I say this:  Stop yer whinin', lads.  I have provided a link to yer page. Just so ye ken, I make not a shillin' off this blog.
