The First Tomato and the Last Strawberry

It is important to note the change of the seasons when you live on a homestead.

Today, we harvested the first red tomato from the greenhouse and the last strawberry from our strawberry plant.

We had a cold snap that got down to 30 degrees.  That ended the season for the outdoor plants, except the onions, cabbage, radishes, lettuce, and spinach.

Now, the fall work begins at Anna Pearl's Gardens.

  1. Beautiful porch! I also enjoy marking down when things happen, plants, wildlife etc. I hope the frost holds off a bit longer here - was the frost early for you, or normal?

  2. Diana, thanks! I love my porch and spend lots of time out there solving the worlds problem. I found that rocker on the side of the road. Can you believe that! We are at 6500 feet elevation, so a frost can come anytime after August 15th. We have been lucky this year so far. I have started heating my greenhouse at night, though. I am hoping to get lettuce, spinach and radishes into November in the greenhouse.
